King Charles and Queen Camilla, who have made Christmas morning mass at Sandringham Church an annual tradition, were joined by Prince William, Kate Middleton and their three children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

While making an appearance on Mail+'s Palace Confidential podcast, royal expert Rebecca English revealed that while Sandringham can “fit about 16 to 18” overnight guests, the accommodations are dated and feature what she called “fish finger beds”–”old-fashioned beds with the really creaky bed springs at the bottom.”

The King and Queen are due to attend a Christmas Day church service in Sandringham alongside the Prince and Princess of Wales plus other royals. It was announced last week that the Duke of York would not attend the annual gathering after an alleged Chinese spy,

Most people probably assume that members of the Royal Family spend Christmas in decadent surroundings, sitting on plush furniture, and eating expensive meals. However, one royal expert has suggested that some aspects of the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk, where the royals traditionally spend the holiday season, are a little antiquated.
