JR Motorsports announced Jan. 15 it will field a Cup entry for February's Daytona 500, with 2024 Xfinity champion Justin Allgaier as pilot.

After 24 years in NASCAR, JR Motorsports enters the Daytona 500 with Justin Allgaier, marking their first-ever Cup race. A dream come true for the team and their fans.

JR Motorsports is thought to be making a major leap into the NASCAR Cup Series by potentially entering the 2025 Daytona 500.

This marks the first time JR Motorsports has entered a car in a Cup race and it comes at the event Dale Earnhardt Jr. won twice as a driver.

JR Motorsports announced Wednesday that reigning Xfinity Series champion Justin Allgaier will attempt next month’s Daytona 500 piloting the No. 40 Chevrolet in partnership with 10-time Grammy Award-winning artist Chris Stapleton.

The NASCAR team owned by Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr. will attempt to make its Cup Series debut in the biggest race with a champion driver and a partnership with a Grammy Award-winning artist.

In a partnership with 10-time Grammy winner Chris Stapleton, the race team owned by NASCAR Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr. and sister Kelley Earnhardt Miller will enter the Daytona 500 with reigning Xfinity Series champion Justin Allgaier.

For the first time in JR Motorsports history, the team co-owned by two-time Daytona 500 winner Dale Earnhardt Jr. and his sister Kelley Earnhardt Miller will field an entry in the Daytona 500 with NASCAR Xfinity Series champion Justin Allgaier as the driver.

Dale Earnhardt Sr. is survived by his wife Teresa Earnhardt and four children: Kerry Earnhardt, Kelley Earnhardt Miller, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Taylor Nicole Earnhardt. The 2025 Daytona 500 will take place at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 16 at the Daytona International Speedway.
