Education activist Malala Yousafzai has returned to her homeland Pakistan for a summit on girls' education in the Islamic world. The Nobel Peace Prize laureate said she was "overwhelmed."

Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai will visit Pakistan for an international conference on girls’ education in Muslim communities. She will be a keynote speaker alongside Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The event aims to address education challenges and will conclude with the signing of the 'Islamabad Declaration'.

Nobel Peace Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai said she was "overwhelmed" to be back in her native Pakistan on Saturday, as the prime minister launched a global summit on girls' education in the Islamic world.

Muhammad al-Issa, a Saudi cleric and secretary general of the Muslim World League - which has backed the summit - said religion was no grounds for blocking girls from school. "The entire Muslim world has agreed that girls education is important, and those who say that girls education is un-Islamic are wrong," he said.
