Former major league left-hander Brian Matusz has died. He was 37. Matusz spent eight seasons in the majors, mostly with the Baltimore Orioles as they returned to prominence a decade ago.

No cause of death was immediately revealed, and police have launched a "death investigation" after the pitcher's body was found at his Phoenix home.

Buck Showalter said he spoke with many of Brian Matusz’s teammates during his eight-year Orioles career after learning of his death.
