Capitol police have identified the 35-year-old man accused of trying to light his spray-painted car on fire near where former President Carter was lying in state.

WASHINGTON DC, United States (AFP) — Jimmy Carter brought a fleeting moment of national unity to a divided America Thursday as all five living US presidents gathered for their predecessor’s moving State funeral in Washington’s National Cathedral.

The state funeral for former President Jimmy Carter has begun with services in Washington, D.C. and his hometown of Plains, Georgia. The ceremonies celebrating Carter in D.C. will include a departure ceremony at the Capitol, the National Funeral Service at Washington National Cathedral and a final departure from Joint Base Andrews.

On Thursday, late President Carter is set to depart the U.S. Capitol at 9 a.m. and travel to the Washington National Cathedral for a ceremony at 9:30 a.m. followed by the National Funeral Services at 10 a.m. Then, Carter and his family will return to Joint Base Andrews, Maryland, where they will board back to Georgia.
