Caitlin Clark has been named the AP Female Athlete of the Year after raising the profile of women’s basketball to unprecedented levels in both college and the WNBA.

Former Iowa women's basketball star Caitlin Clark was named Associated Press Female Athlete of the Year this week. Clark led Iowa to its second consecutive national runner-up finish in March before being selected No. 1 by Indiana in the WNBA Draft. Clark was the league's Rookie of the Year and an All-WNBA selection.

As a memorable 2024 comes to a close in the coming days, Caitlin Clark continues to add to her mantle of honors with the Associated Press (AP) recognizing the former Iowa women’s basketball legend and current Indiana Fever star as its 2024 Female Athlete of the Year on Tuesday.

Clark is the fourth women's basketball player to win the award since its inception in 1931. She joins Sheryl Swoopes (1993), Rebecca Lobo (1995) and Candace Parker (2008, 2021) as other basketball stars to receive the honor.
