Gov. Dan McKee on Monday released a November 2024 inspection report that found the highway on the eastbound side of the Washington Bridge is still safe after a year of carrying vehicles in both directions over the Seekonk River.

A fall inspection of the open eastbound Washington Bridge shows the structure is in "fair" condition after nearly a year of carrying both sides of traffic due to the westbound bridge closure.

Gov. McKee explains where the state is currently in building a new westbound portion of the Washington Bridge.

State officials said Monday the eastbound Washington Bridge has not experienced any significant deterioration despite carrying twice the normal traffic since it was pressed into an expanded role last year.

McKee took aim at 'out-of-the-state people who have satellites' quoted in recent media reports suggesting the bridge is unsafe.
