Philadelphia police are investigating after someone stole a more than 120-year-old crown from a statue of Mary in a Center City Catholic church early Saturday morning. "I'm sad. I'm angry," parochial vicar John McCloskey said.

The crown was made of jewelry and gems donated by parishioners after the church experienced a major fire in the early 1900s, police said.

The thief smashed a stained glass window, entered the building and swiped the crown from a statue of Mary, police say.

The burglar broke into St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church at 13th and Ludlow Streets by smashing through a stained-glass window and stole a golden crown, police said.
