Athletics president Dave Kaval will resign from the organization after being the public face of the organization’s planned move from Oakland to Las Vegas.

Dave Kaval, whose promises that the Athletics would remain “Rooted in Oakland” when he took over as team president in 2016, is out as of Tuesday. According to the team, Kaval, 49, is resigning. Sandy Dean,

Kaval served in this role for eight years. The team says Sandy Dean, "a longtime business partner with the Fisher family," will serve as interim team president as the A's attempt to actually build a ballpark in Las Vegas.

Dave Kaval, who has served as president of the Athletics for eight seasons, will resign Dec. 31 to pursue new business opportunities in California.
