The Indian stock market benchmark indices, Sensex and Nifty 50, are likely to open flat on Friday tracking mixed global market cues.The trends on Gift Nifty also indicate a flat start for the Indian benchmark index.

The 30-share BSE benchmark Sensex dipped 0.39 points to settle at 78,472.48 in muted trade. During morning trade, it had jumped 425.5 points or 0.54 per cent to 78,898.37. The NSE Nifty eked out gains of 22.

The S P BSE Sensex added 18.18 points to close at 78,491.05, while the NSE Nifty50 was up 22.55 points to end the day at 23,750.20.

On December 26, the Sensex and Nifty 50 closed flat, influenced by mixed performances of major stocks. Global cues remained lacklustre amid holiday trading, with investors closely watching the US Federal Reserve's interest rate decisions and Trump's tariff policies.

After opening in green, Benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty dropped on Thursday, driven by looses in index heavyweights TCS, ICICI and HDFC Bank. In early trade, eight of the 13 major sectors advanced.
