The accused Murlidhar Das was tasked with collecting money donated by devotees at ISKCON Vrindavan near Uttar Pradesh's Mathura, police said.

"The FIR was filed following a preliminary investigation initiated after an application was submitted to SSP Shailesh Kumar Pandey on December 27," he added. The accused, Murlidhar Das, was tasked with collecting donations from devotees and depositing the money with temple authorities regularly.

An ISKCON temple official said the employee's job was to collect the donated money and deposit it with the temple authorities from time to time.
