Hannah Katzir, who was abducted from Kibbutz Nir Oz in southern Israel during Hamas’s Oct. 7, 2023, massacre and freed in November of that year as part of a hostage exchange with Hamas, died on Monday night at the age of 78,

Her daughter, Carmit Palty Katzir, said in a statement that her mother’s “heart could not withstand the terrible suffering since Oct. 7.”

An Israeli hostage released by Hamas is now the first to die since granted freedom by the terror group after its Oct. 7 attack, her family confirmed Tuesday.
