Gunfire may have rung out during a New Year’s party in Fort Worth overnight. Police got a 9-1-1 call about a shooting victim near 35-W and Risinger, so they showed up along with Fort Worth Fire and Medstar.

Officers and firefighters responded to a shooting at southbound service road of the Interstate 35W near the intersection of East Risinger Road.

Detectives are investigating the first homicide of the year in Fort Worth. A man was killed and a woman was detained.

FORT WORTH, Texas — A man was killed by an accidental, self-inflicted gunshot wound at a Fort Worth gun range on Monday, Fort Worth Police confirmed. Officers responded to a shooting call around 8:49 p.m. on Dec. 30 at the Smart Shoot gun range, located at 10305 North Freeway Service Road, according to Fort Worth police.

Fort Worth police say they are investigating after an individual shot another person and led officers on a vehicle chase on Interstate 35 Saturday. The chase already ended but the I-35W southbound lanes near Heritage Trace were still shut down as of the early evening, according to a police statement.

Derrick Sanders Jr., 19, is charged with felony murder for the death of his uncle, 40-year-old Christopher Sanders Sr.
