OpenAI's ChatGPT suffered another blow this month when you were asleep. The company confirmed that its AI models, including its video model, Sora and ChatGPT, were down for several hours.

SAN FRANCISCO — OpenAI is experiencing an outage Thursday, causing many users to error out when using ChatGPT or the company's API. The tech company says the outage is caused by an “upstream provider” issue. The outage began around 2 p.m. ET, according to DownDetector. Nearly 15,000 people were reporting outages at that time.

ChatGPT experienced a significant outage on Thursday afternoon, leaving many users unable to access the AI chatbot or its associated services. Reports began to flood in around 1:30 PM ET, with users encountering “internal server error” messages.
